I Hate It Here – Melancholy Watercolour Art Print

A deeply personal piece about escapism, emotion, and finding somewhere else to go when the real world feels too heavy.

I Hate It Here is one of the most personal pieces in the Victoria Wilde Designs collection.

Created from the feeling of wanting to escape from reality when life becomes overwhelming, the artwork depicts a solitary woman sitting beneath the handwritten words “I hate it here.”

Her world has almost completely lost its colour. Soft greys and washed-out watercolours run down the page like rain or tears, with the remaining colour appearing to drain through the scene and collect beneath her.

Beside her lies a discarded open book — a quiet symbol of the other worlds we disappear into through stories, fantasy and imagination when our own becomes difficult to inhabit.

Originally inspired by a song that meant an enormous amount to me during a particularly difficult period of my own life, this is an artwork I created for myself first.

Quiet, melancholic and intentionally imperfect, it is for the readers, dreamers, gamers, escapists and anyone who has ever found comfort somewhere beyond the real world.
